Safer gambling

Getting help with gambling at This is Vegas

This is Vegas arranges a limit, a break, self-exclusion or closure only through its support team, and it claims a Curaçao licence without naming a licence holder or number. The helplines below answer at any hour.

Free, confidential, open around the clock

England and Scotland: National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare0808 8020 133

Wales: NHS Wales gambling helpline0808 2819 265

Both lines are free and you don’t have to give your name. They’re there for your own gambling or for someone close to you who gambles.

If it’s more than gambling that’s weighing on you, Samaritans answer on 116 123, free, at any hour.

A spending limit, an end time and a loss rule

  • An amount you can lose without it touching rent, bills or food, and a rule that the session ends when it’s gone.
  • An end time, fixed before you start, not when you’re ahead or behind.
  • Losses stay lost. If you’re reaching for a bigger stake to win them back, that’s the moment to stop.

Tools This is Vegas arranges through support

Its Responsible Gaming Policy lets you ask for a deposit limit for each day, week or month Responsible Gaming, and it says a written request is enough. A break can run for up to six weeks, and while it lasts the policy says your access is limited, new accounts included. You can also self-exclude, after which it says the account is blocked, or close the account completely.

Why a break here might not reach other brands

DaVinci’s Gold, Paradise 8, Cocoa Casino and the other brands marketed beside it go unnamed in the policy. Its terms still count more than one account at an affiliated sister casino “under the same management” as a breach. So before a break starts, email each brand you’ve played with and save every answer. The policy links Gamblers Anonymous, Gambling Therapy and G4, but no UK helpline.

GAMSTOP, backed by a blocker of your own

GAMSTOP is free. You choose a block of six months to five years, and the gambling operators that check its register then shut you out of their websites and apps. Once you’re on it, back it up with a blocker of your own, such as Gamban or BetBlocker, on every device you’d use to play. GAMSTOP’s own page points to that kind of software for all your devices.

Blocks that keep working on a bad day

Blocking software and your bank’s gambling block both sit outside the casino, so neither depends on a casino honouring a request. A bank block works on card payments your bank identifies as gambling, so it’s one lock among several, not a guarantee.
